Boring history for sleep: what Viking families did in summer, on a farm by a Norwegian fjord around 900 AD, from the barley fields and the summer pasture to fishing, haymaking and the long light evenings. Come back to Lindvik and spend one slow summer with a Norse family.
Tonight's story follows Halvard and Sigrid, a farming couple at Lindvik on a fjord in western Norway around 900 AD, with their children Eirik and Tora and Old Aud, the dairywoman of the summer pasture: the light nights of midsummer, the small barley fields, the walk up to the summer pasture, milk, butter and cheese, nets on the fjord, haymaking on the hillsides, the local assembly by the water, and the long blue evenings at the end of summer.
History to fall asleep to: a calm sleep story for adults, read slowly by the fire.
The pictures fade into a quiet hearth after about half an hour, and the last ten minutes are only the fire, so nothing on the screen will wake you.
What time is it where you are, and where are you listening from?
