Snorkeling Mackay Reef, Port Douglas with Sailaway.

We spent an entire day cruising out to Mackay Reef from Port Douglas with Sailaway charters. It was the most amazing day! During the 2 hour trip to get out to the reef we listened to one of the marine biologist on board give a really good talk on what we would possibly see down below and had a friendly dolphin catching some rides out the back, then spent an hour in the water exploring the more shallow parts on the reef. The kids were so mesmerized by the giant clams and beautifully coloured fish swimming so close to them. We the went for a quick trip the the Mackay Cay, a tiny slice of beach on the middle of the reef, from there we moved out a little further to do another snorkel along the drop off with more amazing coral to explore and a little visit from a reef shark. The Great Barrier Reef sure is something else!
