Krounchasana is also known as the Heron Pose. Like the bird it’s named after, this pose is meant to be very graceful and filled with light. It’s part of the Ashtanga Intermediate Series.
Heron Pose can be described as a stretching yoga pose as it stretches in the leg and targets the feet and ankles, hips, hamstrings, knees, and quadriceps. The pose may be challenging to practice in the initial days considering the intensity of the pose. Hence, it is labeled under intermediate yoga poses. Heron Pose also can be treated as an alternative pose of Trianga Mukhaikapada Paschimottanasana as the purpose and benefits are almost same in both the poses focusing on three limbs of the body,
