This time, we turned our Korea layover into a real 48-hour Seoul travel vlog 🇰🇷 We started from Vancouver, transferred in Seattle, and arrived in Seoul around 6 AM. Even though we only had a short stay, we tried to make the most of it with Korean food, shopping, a 24-hour spa, cafes, markets, and a little nightlife. After landing in Seoul, our first stop was L7 Hongdae, where we dropped off our luggage. The hotel is located near Hongdae, which was super convenient for a short trip. There are plenty of restaurants, cafes, shopping streets, and late-night food options nearby, so it was a great base for our layover stay. After a short rest, we went to The Park Spa Land, a 24-hour Korean spa. It was the perfect place to relax after a long flight. We had some snacks and Korean spa eggs, recharged a little, and even took a short nap before continuing our day. For lunch, we originally wanted to visit Okdongsik, the popular pork soup rice restaurant featured in Culinary Class Wars, but it was already fully booked by the time we arrived. So we went to a nearby restaurant called Hanbonsae, and it turned out to be a great choice. The pork soup rice was warm, comforting, and perfect for our first meal in Seoul. In the evening, we went to MokGuMung BBQ Hongdae, a popular BBQ restaurant known for its water parsley grilled pork. There was a bit of a wait, but the atmosphere was fun, and the staff helped us grill the meat. There is also a wall of celebrity photos at the entrance, so it felt like a spot many K-pop fans would enjoy visiting. After dinner, we walked around Hongdae, explored the shopping streets, and tried some late-night snacks. On our second day, we started at Gwangjang Market. It was very crowded but full of energy and local food culture. We tried chicken feet, octopus, oysters, and different Korean street foods. In the afternoon, we originally planned to visit Gyeongbokgung Palace, but it happened to be closed that day, so we went to Cafe Onion Anguk instead. The cafe is located in a beautifully renovated traditional hanok building, and it was such a nice place for coffee, desserts, and photos. At night, we took a taxi to Itaewon and had dinner at Kim’s Skill Pocha. We really enjoyed the Korean beef tartare, pork soup, and strawberry makgeolli. After dinner, we went to a few bars nearby and wrapped up our short but very full Seoul trip. On the third morning, we flew from Incheon Airport to Beijing. The duty-free shopping at Incheon Airport was actually really good, so I would recommend arriving earlier if you want time to shop before your flight. After landing in Beijing, we ended the trip with hotpot-style lamb. Even with only 48 hours, Seoul was such a fun layover destination.
