Nuclear Symposium 2026 was hosted on September 23 and 24th during Climate Week in New York City.
The two day event brought together, for the first time, the communities, the developers, the buyers, the regulators, and the capital all in one room.
Moderator:
-Richard Stedman, shley School of Global Development and the Environment, Cornell University, Professor
Speakers:
-Brian Pincelli, Wayne County, Director Economic Development & Planning
-Mark Geise, CCIDA, CEO
-Bob Ahlfeld, St. Lawrence County Industrial Development Agency, Business Development Specialist
-Sean Cummings, Ph. D, Cornell Cooperative Extension, Broome County, Environment Program Lead
This panel gives NYPA, NYSERDA, the PSC, developers, and labor a candid view of what communities learned through the RFI process and what would make the next phase effective. Communities are grouped across the two panels to pair comparable experiences separately -- for example, Oswego and Wayne Counties, both current hosts of nuclear facilities, sit on different panels.
