This video is about being honest about your symptoms when you talk to your provider. Whether you are talking to a psychiatrist, your primary care provider, your OB/GYN, or anyone you trying to get help from, you have to talk about all of your symptoms. Even if they sound "crazy." "Crazy" is not a word that I like in psychiatry. I like it in other ways, like, "Hey that game was crazy, wasn't it?' But when I talk to people about their symptoms, I never talk to them about being "crazy." If patients have dopamine (DA ) excess, they often think too much and worry too much about things. Sometimes they worry about things about things that aren't real. Sometimes they feel paranoid or hear voices. Yes, this is often diagnosed as things like schizophrenia, depression with psychotic features, and bipolar disorder. For me, it is just really important that people understand that, while people might call it "crazy," you, yourself, you are not crazy. You have a DA excess. The proof of that is when a DA suppressor, like Zyprexa or Seroquel or Abilify helps you. That's how I look at it. I hope this video is helpful to you.
