Godwit, Whimbrel, Willet | Bird Identification

Learn to identify Marbled Godwits (Limosa fedoa, 00:28 and 03:13), Hudsonian Whimbrels (Numenius hudsonicus, 00:19 and 01:49), and Willets (Tringa semipalmata, and 00:37 and 04:08) by their distinctive beaks. Godwits have very long, slightly upturned bills; Whimbrels have long, strongly downcurved bills; and Willets have straighter, thicker, medium-length bills. The three different specimens appeared on one screen to train our identification skills.
