Remembrance Moments: Canada Remembers the Dieppe Raid | VeteransAffairsCa

The Dieppe Raid was the first time that Canadian soldiers saw major action in Europe during the Second World War. Almost 5,000 Canadians took part in the operation that saw our men come ashore along the coast of occupied France in the area of Dieppe on August 19, 1942. Sadly, the operation would prove to be disastrous, and 916 Canadians would lose their lives in the fighting that day.
