SHUTOKO 1986.
One early-summer night on the Tokyo expressway, told in ten original Japanese city pop songs —
from a short phone call at dusk to work two old friends finally do together at dawn.
🛣️ Tonight's story: He is twenty-nine. A friend he had drifted away from calls briefly, and he heads onto
the Shutoko as the light goes. The seat beside him has been empty for a while; a changed pickup
point, an argument left over from June and the long drive home slowly turn it back into a shared one.
🎧 Ten original songs, male vocal, about an hour and a quarter. Best with the lights low.
A note on this scene: every detail belongs to 1986 — the elevated C1 loop, cash toll booths, a paper map,
cassette tapes and a public telephone for the late-night call. No shop, car model or opening hours
are real, and every stop is made off the expressway on an ordinary street. We name no real companies.
