Alto Choir Practice: " Libera me " from "Requiem" Op48 - 6 by Gabriel Fauré . Fauré appends two movements to his original Requiem : "Libera me" and "In Paradisum" - both from the liturgy for burial. By including both movements, Fauré connected the funeral service and the burial into a single composition. The Libera me is intended to be sung after the Mass has concluded, during the act of absolution; In Paradisum is sung outside the church, en route to the cemetery. Free me, Lord, from eternal death on that terrible day when the heavens will move and the earth, when you come to judge the world with fire. I am made to tremble, and I fear, when the desolation shall come, and also the coming wrath. That day, the day of wrath, calamity, and misery, that terrible and exceedingly bitter day. When you come to judge the world through fire. Grant eternal rest to them, Lord, and let perpetual light shine on them.
