Pakistan’s Hidden Paradise Nobody Talks About | Doga Meadows

This time, I am exploring one of the most beautiful and lesser-known places in Siran Valley, Mansehra — Doga Meadows. My journey starts from Nawazabad, where I begin my motorcycle ride towards Mundi. If you are coming from Islamabad, Nawazabad is around 2.5 to 3 hours away. From Nawazabad, the road towards Mundi is beautiful in the beginning, with a smooth carpeted road, but further ahead it becomes rough and off-road. On the way, there is also a route towards Baleja Meadows, but our destination was Doga Meadows. We continued towards Mundi and stopped at Thandi Nari, where fresh and extremely cold spring water comes down from the mountains. It is a beautiful place to take a break and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Mundi is the last point where you can take your bike or vehicle. There are a couple of small shops where you can get some basic food and snacks. From here, the real adventure begins because the rest of the journey has to be done on foot. The trek from Mundi towards Doga Meadows follows the mountain streams for most of the way. Sometimes you walk on one side of the water and sometimes you have to cross it. The route takes you through forests, streams and beautiful mountain scenery. Other trekking routes also start from this area, but our destination was only Doga Meadows. When we reached Mundi, some local people advised us not to continue because it was raining in the upper mountains. They were worried about the slippery trail and possible flash floods. But after travelling all the way from Nawazabad, we decided to continue carefully. The rain had made the trail much more difficult. The rocks were slippery, water was standing in many places and the forest section was quite challenging. We hardly saw any tourists on the entire route. At one point, I even narrowly avoided stepping on a snake, which made the journey even more intense. After around three and a half to four hours of trekking, we finally reached Doga Meadows. And honestly, the view at the top made all the effort worth it. A huge green meadow surrounded by mountains, small yellow wildflowers, grazing horses, mountain streams and the homes of local Bakrwal families. There was almost no crowd and no noise — just nature, mountains and complete peace. Doga Meadows is a high-altitude meadow in Siran Valley and is still not visited by large numbers of tourists. The route from Mundi to the meadow is a proper mountain trek, so good shoes, enough water and suitable clothing are important, especially during rainy weather. There are no proper hotels or restaurants at Doga Meadows, so anyone planning to stay overnight should bring their own food, camping equipment and other necessary supplies. The local Bakrwal people are friendly and helpful, but because this is a remote area, it is always better to be fully prepared. You can visit Doga Meadows as a long day trip, but personally, I would recommend spending a night here if you have proper camping equipment. I could not stay overnight on this trip because I did not have my tent with me, but I definitely want to return and experience a night under the mountains.
