Audi Q5 power tailgate lift motor repair

A few months back my power tailgate function stopped working one day as a result of the tailgate being prevented from opening by grabbing and holding onto it during an opening cycle (this was a panic reaction to stop it from hitting a low ceiling in a parking garage), instead of the tailgate stopping and automatically entering a closing cycle when prevented from opening, it continued to drive the motors upwards until something snapped - later to be found to be a mounting bracket. After replacing the bracket the tailgate no longer opened any further than half way... Here is how we fixed it! Fault Codes as displayed: VCDS: 02786 - module 2 for Hatch / trunk Lid (J756) 004 - No Signal/Communication - Intermittent Car Scanner: 00317 - Luggage compartment lid control unit (J605); Tailgate control 02914 - Luggage compartment lid sensor1 (lid closed); Encoder 1 for trunk lid closed (G525) 02915 - Luggage compartment lid sensor2 (lid closed); Sender 2 for trunk lid closed (G526) Ross Tech links to fault code wiki for above codes: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index..... http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index....) Audi Q5 left(master) tailgate lift motor part number - 8R0827851B (the last letter is motor revision) Audi Q5 right(slave) tailgate lift motor part number - 8R0827852B (the last letter is motor revision) Audi Q5 tailgate lift motor angle bracket part number - 8K9827603A The motor revisions do not seem to make a difference, as in the end I replaced right motor with a C revision and left motor with a D revision.
