Before sunrise, thousands of soccer fans packed into downtown Denver to watch Premier League football together — singing, drinking, celebrating and supporting clubs playing on the other side of the world. As someone who grew up around European football culture but has spent my life as a soccer fan in America, I wanted to know whether an event like this actually feels authentic — or whether we're still trying to imitate something that can only exist in Europe.
