NICE Road Toll Issue – What is really happening in Bengaluru? The NICE Road toll controversy has once again become a major issue among Bengaluru commuters, especially two-wheeler riders and regular NICE Road users. NICE Road toll issue is not new — it has been a controversy for years. The Bengaluru–Mysuru Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC), operated by NICE, was planned as a major connectivity project, but the project has faced years of delays, land disputes and questions over toll collection. Toll collection on the NICE peripheral and link roads started back in 2008. The issue became much bigger in July–August 2026 after the Karnataka High Court made strong observations about the BMIC project, including concerns regarding toll revisions and the implementation of the project. Following this, H.D. Kumaraswamy appealed to motorists not to pay the NICE Road toll and demanded that the government take over the project and stop the toll collection. This led to motorists questioning and refusing toll payments at several plazas.
