GST/HST in Hightly for Canadian Health Clinics with Mixed Exempt & Taxable Revenue (Ontario HST Demo + Jane App) This demonstration shows Canadian health professionals with mostly GST/HST-exempt services but some taxable revenue (e.g., supplement sales) how to use Hightly’s GST/HST function using a pretend Ontario naturopathic clinic under HST and pulling tax collected from a Jane App billing summary report for the 2025 calendar year. It walks through uploading RBC bank and credit card CSVs, selecting “mixed” revenue, entering the actual HST collected, and reviewing options for handling input tax credits (ITCs). The script explains why estimating ITCs from expenses can overstate refunds when exempt services exist, then shows how to calculate taxable sales from tax collected, determine the taxable-sales percentage of total sales, and prorate ITCs accordingly, with notes on alternative approaches and keeping adjustment documentation and audit support using Hightly’s Excel transaction reports. 00:00 GST HST focused video for Exempt Services and Taxable Services (or Products) Healthcare 00:04 Introduction 00:36 Demo Setup 02:25 GST/HST Registration 03:17 Jane App Export 04:34 Input Tax Credits 07:17 Report Review 08:00 Calculations & Adjustments 10:48 Summary Note: This video is for exempt services in Canada. In this video we cover where a sole proprietor using Heightly to complete their bookkeeping has both taxable and exempt services. Exempt services are different from 0 rated services. Which do allow for 100% GST/HST claim. See the CRA website for more details.
