Enjoy a day of non‑stop diesel action from the 2026 Cotswold Diesel Gala, packed with heritage traction, rare workings, and classic BR power. With locomotives from across the Sulzer, English Electric and Derby-built families, this gala delivered variety all day.
We caught Class 24s, 25s and 26s working hard across the line, plus a standout appearance from a special Class 27 - the very same loco that hauled a royal train for Prince Charles in 1983.
Two Class 20s were out and about as well, and we even climbed on board one for a closer look.
Adding to the action were two rumbling Class 37s, a mighty Class 45, and two Class 47s that drew plenty of attention from enthusiasts all day long.
It was great to see a familiar loco for us, class 35 "Hymek" D7018, which as always looked and sounded the part.
To round things off, the Class 122 “bubble car” was busy shuttling railfans along the line, providing a perfect contrast to the heavy mainline traction.
If you love heritage diesels, gala atmosphere, and traction variety, this video is packed with moments you won’t want to miss.
