🏠 Welcome to Day 19 of the 90-Day English Challenge with Effortless English Zone!
Are you looking for a new apartment but unsure what to say to a landlord or property manager in English? How do you ask about monthly rent, utilities, the security deposit, or the lease without missing an important detail? In today’s real-life English conversation, Emma helps Daniel search for a new home, visit an apartment, compare costs, and prepare for moving day.
This A2–B1 English podcast focuses on natural, practical language for renting an apartment. Listen to Emma and Daniel, repeat the phrases aloud, and practice asking clear questions before making a decision. You’ll hear useful English for apartment listings, viewings, rental agreements, maintenance requests, and everyday life in a new home.

🗣️ USEFUL APARTMENT RENTAL ENGLISH
“Is the apartment still available?”
“I’m interested in scheduling a viewing.”
“Does the rent include utilities?”
“How much is the security deposit?”
“Is the apartment furnished or unfurnished?”
“Will this be repaired before move-in?”
“Could you explain this part of the lease?”
“How much notice do I need to give before moving out?”
“When can I pick up the keys?”
“How can I submit a maintenance request?”
Notice how these short questions help Daniel understand the apartment beyond its photos. He learns to check the total monthly cost, confirm what is included, read the agreement, and get important promises in writing. You don’t need advanced vocabulary to ask useful questions—you need clear sentences that fit the situation.
🎧 HOW TO PRACTICE WITH EMMA AND DANIEL
First, listen to the complete conversation and follow the story: searching online → visiting the apartment → asking about the rent → reading the lease → moving in. Focus on understanding the main idea instead of translating every single word.
Next, listen again and use shadowing. Repeat the useful phrases immediately after the speakers, copying their pronunciation, stress, rhythm, and natural pauses.
Then pause after Emma’s questions and answer as Daniel using your own imaginary apartment details. Change the price, location, date, or features. Say the answers aloud, even if you are practicing alone.
Finally, try a short role-play: imagine you found an apartment you like. Introduce yourself, ask if it is available, book a viewing, ask what the rent includes, and confirm the next step. Repeat the role-play until the words become easier to say without reading.
