Aaron Neville, Johnny Adams & Lee Dorsey (1969) — New Orleans Twilight & Bayou Blues

New Orleans after sundown—porch light low, magnolia in the air, and that slow river hush in the background. This session leans into Southern Deep Soul the way the city knew it in the late 60s to early 70s: raw male voices, brass that sighs and shouts, organ glow, and stories that feel lived-in. Three kindred spirits in one twilight set—heartbreak, hard work, faith, and second chances, all carried with that unmistakable Gulf Coast grit. 🎙️ Tracklist 0:00 - She Played You For A Fool 3:33 - A Failing Cause 7:35 - Laboring in the Iron Pit 11:23 - A Solid Stone to Break 14:10 - False Alarm 17:28 - Yes We Shall 20:54 - There's Still Good in Me 24:23 - Messages of Devotion 28:41 - Slidin' Stella Through the Cellar 32:05 - Give My Love Another Chance If this New Orleans twilight hit you right, tap Like, subscribe to Southern Soul Classics, and drop a comment with the track that stayed with you the longest.
