Love and Deepspace × Blade Runner 2049: Some Philosophical Thoughts

The Love and Deepspace × Blade Runner 2049 crossover was definitely not on my bingo card! But the more I thought about it, the more sense it made. In this video, I'm sharing my initial, unscripted thoughts on the crossover and the many philosophical questions that connect these two science-fiction worlds. Some of the questions we explore: If consciousness can be transferred into another body, what makes someone the person they are? Can artificial beings and androids have genuine feelings and humanity? If our memories are implanted, lost, or shaped by different timelines, do they define who we are? Can we truly be free if our lives are governed by programming or fate? Is immortality worth pursuing if it comes at the cost of other people's lives? Can artificial beings genuinely experience love? From Caleb's new story branch and Ever's pursuit of immortality to the Wanderers, the MC's memories, alternate timelines, and the ethical questions surrounding artificial life, there is plenty to think about. I'll also touch on some of the themes explored in Blade Runner 2049 and its source novel, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, and why I think this unexpected crossover makes more sense than it might initially seem.
