$15 Fix For Your Bike Battery!

My wife and I have Schwinn e-Bikes with 36V batteries. Both batteries failed within a week of each other. In both cases it was a bad BMS (Battery Management System). Schwinn said they could send us new batteries for $250 each. A repair place wanted $300-350 each. Since a replacement BMS only cost about $15 I ordered one and decided to try replacing it. It required some time and some soldering, but I was able to replace the old one with a better new one (e.g. the new one is waterproof etc.) and got the battery working. This video is of me replacing the BMS on the second battery and sharing the process with you. You can expect to learn a bit about how a BMS works to monitor the health of a battery array, and how to take off the old and replace it with a new one. I show you the process step by step and teach you important principles to keep the process safe. Most importantly I learned new things and had FUN! My bike was a Schwinn, but the principles are the same with any battery array and BMS. BTW, I filmed this with an Insta360 X6 camera. They are amazing for travel and action shots, but because it takes video of the entire room and lets me frame and zoom my shots later, it’s useful for how to videos, interviews etc. #insta360
