A song of sacrifice, courage, and love, The Letter tells the story of a soldier heading off to war, leaving behind family and cherished memories. Through letters home and whispered prayers beneath the battlefield sky, he holds onto hope, faith, and the bonds that make him who he is. With powerful lyrics capturing the weight of war and the love that never fades, this country ballad honours those who serve, and have served their country. The song is influenced by the original 'The Letter' written back in the 1980's by my friend Jack Morris and recorded by our then band Jaid. I have used Jack's opening four lyric lines as they paint a great opening scene but thereafter the song's melody and lyrics are newly composed in 2025 .. almost forty years later. I thank Jack for the inspiration and acknowledge him having the source idea for the song.
