2027 Volvo EX40: Is This Electric SUV Still Worth Buying?

The 2027 Volvo EX40 gets a major tech and safety update, but is Volvo’s compact electric SUV still competitive against rivals like the BMW iX1, Audi Q4 e-tron and DS N°7? In this video, I take a detailed look at the updated EX40, including its new styling, battery options, range, pricing for Ireland, charging speeds, interior, Google-based technology and upgraded safety systems. The EX40 remains available with single- and twin-motor setups, with battery options ranging from 69kWh to 82kWh. The Long Range version can deliver up to around 575km of range, while the Twin Motor has significantly more power. What’s new for 2027? 🔹 New front grille, bonnet and wings 🔹 Updated Matrix LED headlights 🔹 Redesigned rear lights and bumper 🔹 New 11.2-inch infotainment display 🔹 Google’s next-generation Gemini AI assistant 🔹 New interior materials and finishes 🔹 New safety tech 🔹 Upgraded 360° parking camera with 3D view 🔹 Door Opening Alert for cyclists and passing traffic I also look at the practical side of the EX40, including rear-seat space, Isofix points, storage, the 410-litre boot and the useful front storage compartment. And, of course, I compare it with some of its biggest competition, including the BMW iX1, Audi Q4 e-tron and newer electric SUVs such as the DS N°7. Charging remains based on a 400V architecture, with DC charging speeds of up to 205kW depending on the version.
