Australian yacht Tai Tam, a Beneteau Oceanis 51.1, just sank in the South Pacific north of Norfolk Island, between New Zealand and New Caledonia, after a mysterious impact left the vessel badly damaged and taking on water. The crew heard a loud thud, saw the water change, and were forced to abandon ship before Tai Tam disappeared beneath the ocean.
