Enjoy! 🇬🇧 Laida Bologna Crew officially formed in 2002 at the Vecchio Son, a cultural and music center founded by Steno a few years earlier. The first jams, however, go back to the summer of 2001, when Cangio and I often played together, sometimes joined by Steno: reggae/dub improvisations, very different from what was to come. The musical chemistry between the three of us was strong. So, when Los Fastidios asked Steno to play a set of Nabat songs (who had broken up after the album Nati per niente), he replied that he already had a band. That’s how it all began: Cangio and I started studying and rearranging Nabat’s tracks from the recordings, trying to preserve the original spirit while adding our own touch. Genio and Vince joined us, and the lineup came to life. Our live debut took place on February 2nd, 2002, in Vercelli, with Sandro from Forty Winks as roadie/factotum. It was my first concert in that scene, and I didn’t know what to expect. The venue quickly filled up and, after the sets by Radio Destroy and Los Fastidios, we hit the stage in an electric atmosphere. In the audience were people who would later become close friends (Marco Balestrino, Frank Pellegrino, Alessio Uguaglianza, Johnny Wesson, among others), though I didn’t know it at the time. Laida Bologna Crew carried on until 2006, when Cangio and I left the band to form Laser Geyser, while Steno and Genio joined the guys from Uguaglianza to continue under the name Nabat. Here you can watch the video from that night: the audio and footage aren’t perfect, but they capture the energy that filled the Mattone Rosso that night. Enjoy!
