Western Odisha achieves a major weather tracking upgrade as a state-of-the-art C-Band Doppler Weather Radar gets installed in Sambalpur. Built with an investment of ₹4.20 crore across a 5-story facility, this radar covers a 250 km radius across 10 districts including Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Bargarh, and Bolangir. It will provide crucial early warnings for lightning, thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, and low-pressure systems, greatly improving Hirakud Dam flood control.
