One 1886 photograph from Geronimo's camp at Canon de los Embudos, Mexico, shows a white boy standing among Apache children. The video works outward from that image to the documented life of Santiago McKinn: taken from a New Mexico ranch in September 1885 after his brother was killed, six months on the run with the Chiricahua, photographed by C.S. Fly the day before the surrender, and then, by the written account of the reporter who watched it, weeping and refusing to leave when the Army sent him home. It closes on the thin record of the 55 years he lived afterward without ever speaking publicly about any of it.
