The rough coastal road leads through dry, rocky landscapes with wide sea views, open hills, and goats along the way. From the Balos parking area, we continue on foot toward the viewpoint, where the full shape of Balos Lagoon slowly opens below: turquoise shallows, a bright sandbank, Cape Tigani, and the deep blue sea beyond. After enjoying the view from above, we walk down the stairs to Balos Beach and into the heart of the lagoon. The scenery changes with every step: soft sand, shallow water, rocky details, and those unreal blue colors that make Balos one of the most famous beaches in Crete. From there, we continue with a peaceful beach walk toward a rock in the middle of the lagoon before entering the crystal-clear water for snorkeling with many different fish. Later, the route continues onto Cape Tigani, where the view over Balos Lagoon feels completely different again.
