RAILWAYS AROUND BIRMINGHAM Part 4b of 4 Water Orton Station & East Junction 29th July 2026 An early morning start at Water Orton Station on 29th July 2026 allowed me to capture on video the Blue Pullman HST from Hull to Paignton Excursion. Joined by my friend and his train enthusiast mutt, we moved onto the railway bridge offering a good view of the East Junction. In the following hours I managed to get on film many Class 66's on a large variety of freight workings and a couple of Class 70's. Locomotive 99002 made an appearance on a Freightliner, a highlight for several other enthusiasts who turned up to witness this. I thank them for their updated information that they supplied me with on the status of the trains. Class 220/221 Voyagers were also seen on the many Cross Country services and the DMU Classes, 170/172 serving much of the Midlands and South Wales. The heat was beginning to get a little unbearable, so I returned to the Station, not giving any shade either, but I did capture a few last minute Freights. One other highlight was the appearance of Locomotive 56051, running Light Engine under the footbridge at the Junction as a Freightliner passed by in the opposite direction. This location is probably the best location to see freight and passenger services in the Birmingham area, if not the whole Midlands. I decided late in the production of this final part, to split part 4 into 2 parts (4a and 4b).
