The Mist Falls Trail in Kings Canyon National Park ended up being one of the most unforgettable hikes of our California national parks trip.
In this video, we hike the Mist Falls Trail from the Cedar Grove area of Kings Canyon National Park, following the river through towering granite canyon walls, forested sections, mountain views, and eventually reaching the beautiful Mist Falls. The entire trail was stunning from start to finish, and it quickly became the Kings Canyon hike we’re still thinking about.
If you’re planning a trip to Kings Canyon National Park and wondering if Mist Falls Trail is worth adding to your itinerary, this video will give you a look at what the hike is really like, what the scenery looks like along the way, and why this trail became one of our favorite hikes in the park.

This popular route starts along the sandy Paradise Valley Trail, and then continues onto the Mist Falls Trail. As you climb into the wilderness, you’ll have some beautiful views of the canyon you were just in. The trail is mostly moderate until the end, where there is a quick 600 foot elevation gain to the waterfall. Eventually you’ll reach the falls which are, as their name suggests, very misty!
