FIFA 99 was developed by EA Canada and adapted for the console by Software Creations. The game was released globally for Nintendo 64 between November 30 and December 8, 1998. The Nintendo 64 version maintained the gameplay base of the PlayStation and PC editions, including licensed clubs, national teams, and multiple championship modes. The Nintendo 64 version was ported by Software Creations, while the main development was handled by EA Canada. The indoor soccer mode, present in FIFA 98: Road to World Cup, was removed from all FIFA 99 platforms, including the Nintendo 64. Trivia and Cultural Context The last one for Nintendo 64: FIFA 99 was the sixth main title in the series published by EA Sports and marked the end of the FIFA franchise on the Nintendo 64. Only the Game Boy received the following versions until FIFA 2002, which returned to being released for a home console (in this case, GameCube). More teams and leagues: The game expanded the number of licensed clubs and leagues compared to its predecessor, including the Portuguese Primeira Liga and the Belgian First Division. Issues in Portugal: In Portugal, there was a dispute involving the rights to player and club names from the Portuguese league. Historical records indicate that there was a threat of legal action related to local licensing, although the game remained on sale. Award in Germany: The Nintendo 64 version received recognition from the German magazine Total! as the best soccer game for the console in its 1999 awards. 0:00 - Start 0:39 - Match start - Santos Futebol Clube vs. Manchester United 7:48 - Goal #FIFA99 #Nintendo64 #N64 #EASports #EACanada #SoftwareCreations #SantosFC #ManchesterUnited #RetroGaming #Gameplay
