I just finished reacting to *The Warning's "Ritual,"* and this time I watched the *official music video* instead of a live performance. Visually... wow. That video is definitely out there. There were angels, symbolism, and all kinds of imagery that I'm sure has a deeper meaning. I'm not completely sure what the story was, but I can say this—it looked fantastic. Musically, though, that's where this song really grabbed me. *Dany's* guitar tone is just nasty—in the best possible way. It's heavily distorted, almost to the point where it has a synth-like quality in places, but it never loses its power. It's a huge part of what gives this song its personality. And then there's *Pau* on drums. She's playing this groove through the verses that's incredibly creative. I'm going to have to go back and listen to it a few more times because there's a lot happening there. It's one of those drum parts that sounds simple at first, but the more you listen, the more you realize how much is going on underneath. Another thing that caught my attention was the chorus. The song is basically in **4/4**, but the way they phrase and accent the chorus almost makes it feel like they've shifted into an odd time signature. Whether they actually changed the meter or they're just playing with the accents, it's a really cool effect that keeps the song feeling fresh. Once again, The Warning proves why they're one of my favorite modern rock bands. One thing I love about them is that they don't rely on flashy guitar solos to impress people. They simply write great songs. Everything serves the music first, and that's one of the reasons they've become such an outstanding band. This is another easy thumbs-up from me, and it's definitely making my playlist.
