June 12, 1962. A guard reaches into a cell on Alcatraz, and the sleeping man's head rolls onto the floor. It's a fake.
This is how three men built the most famous escape in American history, one step at a time: spoons, a vacuum-motor drill, fake heads, a raft made of more than fifty raincoats, and a concertina turned into a pump. And the question nobody has answered in more than sixty years: did they make it out by dawn?
A dramatised reconstruction based on FBI, Bureau of Prisons and National Park Service records. Dialogue is illustrative.
