Slow Walk From Pasar Ngasem to A Special Place Full of Memories to Historical Masjid Selo

Hi everyone, welcome to Jogja Slowly. 😊 This morning, let’s take a slow walk through one of the old neighborhoods around the Yogyakarta Palace. Our walk begins at Pasar Ngasem, a lively morning market known for its local food and everyday atmosphere. From there, we continue through the old streets of Jogja, passing Ndalem Pakuningratan, historic sites around Magangan, and finally discovering Masjid Selo, a small mosque with its own place in the history of this neighborhood. 🌿 But this walk is also a little more personal for me. Along the way, I pass a house where my beloved late wife spent part of her childhood. Walking through these familiar streets brought back many memories — some quiet, some bittersweet, and some that I will always carry with me. Sometimes, walking through an old neighborhood is not only about discovering places. It can also be a way of remembering the people and moments that once made those places meaningful. So, there is no rush today. Just a slow walk through the old streets of Jogja, discovering its heritage, its everyday life, and a few memories along the way.
