Mountain Biking Merritt Creek - The Piedmont Trails - Duluth, MN

Merritt Creek is a black rated mountain bike trail that is part of the Piedmont Trail system in Duluth, MN. The trail is definitely a chunky mix of rock with a wooden feature thrown in for fun. This was the first time I had been on the trail in a few years so we decided to do a more mellow pre-ride. We were able to ride most of it but did walk a few features just to get an idea of what we were up against. It definitely has some cool rock features that will catch you by surprise if you're not ready. I did fall once when I was undecided on an uphill line choice and a smaller rock stopped me dead. One other mishap was when my bike shorts/chamois got caught on my seat when going over a feature with the dropper down. I almost ate $hit on that one! You can park at the Haines Road trailhead or the Hutchinson Road trailhead and the Merritt Creek loop is located off of the Stovetop-Upper Burner trail which also has some nice new features worth checking out! All in all, in was a great day of sessioning some cool natural features on the trail which I would highly recommend. I appreciate you riding along as two old guys fumbled through some of the chunk with a couple of mishaps. Hopefully you're out riding as well. Thanks for watching.
