A public meeting held at Sildubi in Mallangkona, West Khasi Hills, brought together several local community organizations to voice strong opposition against making knowledge of the Khasi language compulsory for candidates in District Selection Committee (DSC) interviews. Leaders highlighted that this mandatory language condition could unfairly disadvantage over 4 lakh Garo residents who have lived across the Khasi Hills region for generations. Calling for a far more inclusive approach to state recruitment policies, representatives emphasized that government hiring must respect the demographic diversity of the area without stripping native minority populations of fair employment access. #GaroRights #KhasiHills #MeghalayaNews #DSCRecruitment #LanguageEquality
