Alleppey is a beautiful coastal town located at an hour's drive from Kochi in Kerala. Alleppey is also known as the Venice of the East for its blue lagoons, intricate network of canals and stunning backwaters. Alleppey or Alappuzha house boat trips are quite popular with tourists. Among the best Backwaters of Kerala, it is well known for its iconic coconut tree lined canals. Alleppey tourist places include the Alappuzha backwaters, Alleppey Beach and Marari Beach. So from Kochi, we began our Kerala road trip to the alluring backwaters of Alleppey. The 54kms from Kochi to Alleppey took around 2 hours with a lunch stop mid-way and a quick visit to the famous Marari beach. We reached Alleppey in the evening and checked into The Ramada hotel which had an amazing view of the backwaters. Next we headed for a backwater boat cruise along the gorgeous canals right upto the Vembanad Lake. This video showcases the incomparable beauty and serenity of the coconut tree lined beautiful backwaters of Kerala. As we cruised around for hours in our shikara, we visited the shooting point, enjoyed a ride in a small canoe and also enjoyed a local lunch. These backwaters are a paradise for nature and bird lovers.
