RDR2: Tiger Striped Bay Mustang for Arthur, Carcass Shield Method

Using this method, you can tame the Tiger Striped Bay Mustang right under the nose of New Austin sniper. Pros: You need the buggy only once, to make a campfire in New Austin, and if you fail, you then start a minute away from the horse, not in Saint Denis or even farther. You need not worry about lawmen on the roads: you wont't use roads at all. Because there are no roads here. You need not worry about Pinkertons: you won't get close enough to West Elizabeth for them to spawn. While you focus on horse's tracks, she won't despawn. You can also use Dead Eye to easily find the horse, and help yourself with photo mode if you're not sure about the terrain ahead. The horse is very predictable on this path, though definitely can swim to Mexico and do not be able to return. I managed to herd her to the island 4 out of 5 tries, and tame 3 times (technically, 4, but the game decided to bug out and horse never got calmed down). The area where you need to herd the horse is big enough to tame her without worries about the sniper. There are also a lot of animals there, as you can see in the video, probably the Sonoran Desert Toad too, though I'm not sure. Using the baits can help you to get rid of all the rams and pronghorns that really love to attack you if you're carrying something long enough. Like, you know, the pronghorn carcass. As of now (2024/10/19, date or recording) the area is still safe. You can casually fast travel out of New Austin after taming the horse, or leave her here and lure her out of New Austin later, with a couple of buggy trips. If you tame her, she'll just wait for you. Cons: Terrain here is steep and sloppy sometimes, so I recommend to practice and study the path first, preferably in the Epilogue.
