St. Kevin’s Hospital is a lunatic Asylum in Cork, Ireland, that was built in 1893 and finally closed down in 2002. It has several of its own chapels (also similarly sealed tight) and a statue of Mary, standing guard. Strangely enough, despite all the other vandalism and graffiti (which is left), whenever this statue gets grafittied, the security/maintenance team always seem to come along and repaint it the proper colours. I've seen several photos of Mary in all sorts of colours and covered in various tags. Unfortunately, due to people starting fires in the building, strong, steel shutters were fitted on all the ground floor doors and windows! Every country has their idiots!
