The secret place is where our relationship with God is cultivated away from the noise, distractions, opinions, and demands of life. It is where we learn to hear God, receive strength, gain direction, and grow in spiritual sensitivity. Jesus understood the importance of the secret place. Even when crowds were looking for Him, He deliberately withdrew to pray. «“And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.” — Luke 5:16» Your public strength is often connected to the quality of your private fellowship with God. There are things God will reveal to you in the secret place that cannot be discovered in the noise. There is strength you receive when nobody is watching. There is intimacy that is developed when you consistently return to God. Don't wait for a crisis before you pray. Don't wait until you need an answer before you seek God. Seek Him because He is God. Put away the phone. Turn down the noise. Create the time. Open your Bible. Get on your knees. Lift your voice. Pray in the Spirit. And stay there. The secret place may not always feel spectacular, but consistency in the secret place produces a life that carries spiritual substance.
