Light of the Parol: Filipino Christmas Star Lanterns

In Tagalog, paliwanag means to explain, but its root liwanag means light. This short film follows that spirit as two Filipino Canadians share the brilliance of the parol, the star-shaped lantern that fills Filipino homes with warmth during the long holiday season. Raymon Maliwat and Hercules Guidoriagao share why the holiday season begins as early as September, when the celebrated ber months spark an instant lift in community spirit.
