Exercise 1.2 – Quadratic Equations (Type I & Type II) | Class 10 Maths Chapter 1 | KPK Board
This is the next lecture in our Chapter 1: Quadratic Equations series for Class 10 Maths (KPK Board). In this video, we move to Exercise 1.2 and cover two important types of equations that reduce to quadratic form, with fully solved examples and questions.
📌 What You'll Learn in This Video:
✅ Type I: Equations of the form ax⁴ + bx² + c = 0
• Solved Example: 12x⁴ - 11x² + 2 = 0
• Substitution method: let y = x², reducing to a quadratic in y
• Solving by factorization and back-substituting to find x
✅ Type II: Equations of the form p(x) + b/p(x) = c
• Solved Example (Ex 7): 2x + 4/x = 9
• Multiplying through by x to clear the fraction
• Converting into standard quadratic form and solving by factorization
This lecture is designed for Class 10 students following the KPK Board (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) syllabus and is equally useful for Matric students from other boards studying the same chapter. These substitution-based techniques are essential for tackling higher-degree equations that appear disguised as quadratics — a common exam topic.
