Where Did We Go Wrong, was written for @LukeWeast , inspired by his story and the questions it raises about where life has taken us, and how we ended up so far from what really matters.
This was the video that inspired me to write this song. Give him some love:

🎵LYRICS:
They told me, Get a good job, son,
Work hard and you'll be fine.
Get yourself a decent salary,
And everything will fall perfectly in line.
So I did what I was told to do,
I worked my way up the stairs.
I thought if I could earn enough,
I'd finally get somewhere.
I saved everything I could, I watched prices rise,
I searched for somewhere I could call mine.
But every house was further out of reach,
No matter how hard I climbed.
So I found a better job,
And I chased a bigger pay.
I thought more money
Hopefully would clear my way.
Chorus
But where did we go wrong?
When did enough became never enough?
I spent my life chasing a stupid number
That was always moving up.
They told me I'd be happy
If I just made more each year.
So I kept chasing after money,
Till all reason disappeared.
Where did we go wrong?
Since when did earning money
Mean missing out on life,
The time with friends and family,
The rivers, trees and skies?
I started asking myself questions
I always felt this way:
If this is what success looks like,
Why does it hurt this way?
Why am I trading all my time
For numbers on a screen?
Why am I missing life itself
While chasing what it means?
I keep telling myself, one day,
I'll finally have enough.
But every time I get a little more,
It was still never enough.
I don't want another title,
I don't need another raise.
I want to wake up by the river,
And watch the sunlight through the haze.
I don't need another paycheck,
I don't need another prize.
I just want to wake up with a reason,
And feel alive beneath the skies.
Chorus
But where did we go wrong?
When did enough became never enough?
I spent my life chasing a stupid number
That was always moving up.
They told me I'd be happy
If I just made more each year.
So I kept chasing after money,
Till all reason disappeared.
Where did we go wrong?
Since when did earning money
Mean missing out on life,
The time with friends and family,
The rivers, trees and skies?
I don't dream about a mansion
With a driveway made of stone.
I don't need a room for every dream
Or a house I never want to own.
Give me somewhere near the water,
Where the morning greets the sky.
Let me sit beside the river,
And hear the quiet passing by.
Let the wind move through the branches,
Let the sunlight warm my face.
Let me spend a day with nowhere to go,
And with nothing I have to chase.
Because maybe time was never wasted.
Maybe that's the thing we missed.
Maybe life was in the moments
We were too busy to exist.
What if I don't want to be richer?
What if I just want to be free?
What if the life others have been chasing,
Was never the life meant for me?
What if success is just a number?
What if winning isn't more?
What if the richest thing I could own
Is a time I can't buy anymore?
I've been running toward tomorrow
While the days were flying by.
I've been waiting for my life to start,
While watching years go by.
And maybe there's no finish line,
Maybe that's the lie.
Maybe we're not here to climb forever.
Maybe we're here to be alive.
But where did we go wrong?
When did enough became never enough?
I spent my life chasing a stupid number
That was always moving up.
I don't want to be another number.
I don't want another year
Spent waiting for the perfect moment
That is never going to appear.
Where did we go wrong?
Maybe we were looking too far ahead.
Maybe all the things we needed
Were all the things we left unsaid.
I don't need a bigger life.
I just want a life that's mine.
Give me the river, give me the silence,
Give me back my time.
Let me hear the water running,
Let me listen to the birds at dawn.
Let me wake up with a reason,
Not another thing to chase or want.
Let me sit beneath the morning sun,
With nowhere else that I need to be.
Let me watch the river carry on,
And finally let myself be free.
