How can we remember the Supreme Personality of Godhead at the time of death (`prayāṇa-kāle`), and why does Lord Kṛṣṇa declare that even the highest material planet (`Brahmaloka`) is a place of misery and repeated rebirth?
In this session on Bhagavad-gītā As It Is (Chapter 8: Attaining the Supreme, Texts 9–16), HG Anadi Anshuman Das explains the nature of the Supreme Person, the complex process of mystic yoga (`yoga-dhāraṇām`), and why unalloyed devotional service (`ananya-bhakti`) makes Kṛṣṇa "very easy to achieve" (`su-labhaḥ`).
📖 VERSE-BY-VERSE BREAKDOWN (Referenced from Vedabase):
🔹 BG 8.9 (kaviṁ purāṇam anuśāsitāram...):
The Supreme is not impersonal or void; He is a Person (`puruṣa`). Learn the eight qualities of the Lord to meditate upon: He knows everything (`kavim`), is the oldest (`purāṇam`), the controller (`anuśāsitāram`), smaller than the atom (`aṇor aṇīyāṁsam`), the maintainer of everything (`dhātāram`), beyond material conception (`acintya-rūpam`), luminous like the sun (`āditya-varṇam`), and transcendental (`tamasaḥ parastāt`).

🔹 BG 8.10 (prayāṇa-kāle manasācalena...):
Fixing the life air (`prāṇam`) between the two eyebrows (`bhruvor madhye`) at the time of death through the power of mystic yoga (`yoga-balena`) and undeviating devotion. Why one must practice during life because the mind is disturbed at death.

🔹 BG 8.11–12 (yad akṣaraṁ veda-vido vadanti... / sarva-dvārāṇi saṁyamya...):
The process of `pratyāhāra`—practicing celibacy (`brahma-caryam`), closing all doors of the senses (`sarva-dvārāṇi`), confining the mind in the heart (`mano hṛdi`), and raising the life air to the top of the head (`mūrdhni`). Why Srila Prabhupada explains this is impractical in Kali-yuga compared to Kṛṣṇa consciousness.

🔹 BG 8.13 (oṁ ity ekākṣaraṁ brahma...):
Quitting the body while vibrating the sacred syllable `oṁ-kāra` and remembering Kṛṣṇa (`mām anusmaran`). Understanding how the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra contains `oṁ` and leads devotees to Goloka Vṛndāvana and the Vaikuṇṭha planets.

🔹 BG 8.14 (ananya-cetāḥ satataṁ yo māṁ smarati nityaśaḥ...):
The heart of Chapter 8: "For one who always remembers Me without deviation, I am easy to obtain (`su-labhaḥ`), O son of Pṛthā, because of his constant engagement in devotional service."

🔹 BG 8.15–16 (mām upetya punar janma duḥkhālayam aśāśvatam... / ā-brahma-bhuvanāl lokāḥ...):
Why great souls (`mahātmānaḥ`) never return to this temporary world full of miseries (`duḥkhālayam aśāśvatam`). From the highest planet (`Brahmaloka`) down to the lowest, all are places of repeated birth and death (`punar āvartino`)—but attaining Kṛṣṇa’s abode means no more rebirth (`punar janma na vidyate`).

✨ FEATURED SHLOKA (BG 8.9):
कविं पुराणमनुशासितार-
मणोरणीयांसमनुस्मरेद्य: ।
सर्वस्य धातारमचिन्त्यरूप-
मादित्यवर्णं तमस: परस्तात् ॥ ९ ॥
"One should meditate upon the Supreme Person as the one who knows everything, as He who is the oldest, who is the controller, who is smaller than the smallest, who is the maintainer of everything, who is beyond all material conception, who is inconceivable, and who is always a person. He is luminous like the sun, and He is transcendental, beyond this material nature." (Bhagavad-gītā As It Is 8.9)
🙏CHANT AND BE HAPPY:
Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare
Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare
