Origin: Song/Lyrics: October 10, 2026 Tracking: Take 8 off Master: October 21, 2026 *Extra Track Lyrics - A Song In Me Could it possibly be? Is today the day? Have I finally run out of things I want to say? Writing paralysis has me in an inspirational lull, Creative inertia? More like cobwebs in the skull The John’s said it best, back when writing “Number Three,” And I bring their genius up now ’cause it just occurred to me: Specifically the part about “digging up my music’s shallow grave,” What if my best just isn’t good enough? What if I’ve given all I gave? I’ve turned the well upside down, I’ve searched my songwriting lost and found, A Johnny Appleseed- I’ve shaken every rhyme tree But not a single musical inspiration comes to me I’ve still got a song in me, song in me, Wait till you hear what it’s gonna be! Maybe the words got lost awhile, But they’ll come running back in style. I’ve still got a song in me, song in me, It’s waking up and it’s breaking free! Write it down, let the whole world see— You can’t bury the song in me! I’ve tried writing about writing, which is writing about me, A self-referential circle with no exit I can see. I’ve rhymed a word with “inspiration,” then with “desperation” too, And if I rhyme them both again, I’ll have a trilogy in view! Perhaps I need a walk outside, A little less control, A melody might find me When I’m not searching for a soul. I’ve still got a song in me, song in me, Wait till you hear what it’s gonna be! Maybe the words got lost awhile, But they’ll come running back in style. I’ve still got a song in me, song in me, It’s waking up and it’s breaking free! Write it down, let the whole world see— You can’t bury the song in me! Then someone laughs, or the rain taps time, A passing thought turns into a rhyme. A little idea comes knocking again— And suddenly I’m back at the beginning! So maybe the well never really runs dry, Maybe the songs just get shy now and then. And maybe the trick is to loosen my grip, And let the next little melody slip. I’ve still got a song in me, song in me, Wait till you hear what it’s gonna be! The words came back, the tune came free, There’s a whole wide world of songs in me! I’ve still got a song in me, song in me, It’s waking up and it’s breaking free! Sing it loud, let the whole world see— You can’t bury the song in me! I’ve still got a song in me! Could it possibly be? Is today the day? Well, I guess I found a few more things to say
