On a rainy summer day, I set out to make an Oasis-inspired 90s indie track using the Ableton Push 3 — and ended up recording nearly everything, including live drums with just one mic.
This is a songwriting vlog filled with unexpected limitations, nostalgic inspiration, and that internal battle between convenience vs. perfectionism.
It just so happened that I made this on the same night Oasis played Wembley and I almost had tickets but ended up not going, which made it feel even more personal. I grew up on this sound — the wall-of-guitars, the raw vocals, the chaos and emotion of it — and this was a way to reconnect with that younger creative self.
I talk about:
Using the Push 3 as a looper and sketching tool
Recording in a big hall with minimal gear
Capturing moments before the tech slows you down
Why I sometimes question if the Push 3 fits my process
And how nostalgia can fuel a song you didn’t know you needed
Thanks for watching — and let me know what you’d do with a space like this. I'm still figuring out how to use it best.
