Shivamogga Well Politics has turned into an interesting political controversy in Sagar, Shivamogga district, with MLA Belur Gopalakrishna and former minister Haratalu Halappa taking contrasting positions over an old well. Shivamogga Well Politics has attracted attention because what appears to be a local issue has now developed into a political war of words between two prominent leaders. The controversy centres around an old well in Gandhinagar area of Sagar. Haratalu Halappa has strongly objected to the closure of the well and questioned the decision, claiming that it was a natural source of drinking water for local residents. He has also warned of approaching the Lokayukta over the issue. MLA Belur Gopalakrishna has rejected the allegations and presented a different version.
