A man of about seventy-one spent three hours and forty minutes on a metal bench in Atlanta. Forty yards behind him, up one flight of stairs, was a room with armchairs, a bathroom with no queue and free food. He had a card in his wallet that would have let him walk in. He had been carrying it four years.
Let me say this plainly in the first two minutes: there is no rule that lets you into a lounge because you are over sixty. Anybody implying otherwise invented it.
What is real is that a great many people already have access through something they own and have never activated. The credit card benefit nobody enrolled in. The status on a dormant airline account. The ticket that already includes it. Somebody else's guest allowance. Delay cover in an app you never opened. The USO if you served.
Then the free alternatives, and the exact words to say at the desk.
The Confident Traveler Handbook is on the channel description.
Have you ever been in a lounge, and how did you get in?
