How a PISSED OFF Rookie Forced His Way to Being Montreal's #1

The Montreal Canadiens’ most valuable player so far this season? A 21-year-old goalie that didn’t even make the Opening Night roster as a backup, and instead started his season with the AHL’s Laval Rocket. But, just over a month into the 2026-2027 campaign, Jacob Fowler has become indispensable for Montreal, a Calder Trophy favorite, and maybe even a contender for the Vezina Trophy. And Fowler’s rapid ascent from farm team depth to potential No. 1 netminder has not only elevated the Canadiens, one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference, but it’s vindicated the youngster who didn't hide the fact that he was pissed about not making the team out of training camp. And if he keeps playing like he has, the Canadiens’ supposed “goalie of the future” will make it impossible for anyone to argue that he isn't also their goalie of the present! #nhl #montrealcanadiens #jacobfowler Written & Narrated by: Jonah Birenbaum (@Birenball | X) Edited by: James Balutan (@jamesbalutan | Instagram) Thumbnail Design by: William 'Magoo' O'keefe 0:00 - The Canadiens' savior 0:38 - Fowler's historic hot streak 0:57 - 2025-2026 debut 2:18 - Florida beginnings 2:57 - Overlooked by OHL/USHL 3:22 - A shot in Youngstown 4:01 - Montreal comes calling 4:55 - Pit stop at Boston College 5:43 - Roster crunch 6:22 - Opportunity knocks 6:55 - Fowler flourishes 7:54 - Who's Montreal's No. 1?
