OPENING HANDS (about half get mulliganed) Going 2nd, keep Kyo: 59% with him, 52% without. Going 1st, want a 3-DON play (Kyo or Stussy) AND Linlin on 5: both 55%, neither 46%. All big cards and nothing early: ship it, either seat. 3. THE CURVE Going 2nd: T1 Kyo (60% vs 50% passing), T2 a 4-drop (Gloriosa / John / Wang Zhi), T3 Newgate on 6 (56%), T4 Shiki on 8 (58% vs 51%), T5 Xebec on 10. Going 1st: pass T1, Kyo or Stussy on 3, Linlin on 5, then Newgate or Shiki, Xebec at 10. Linlin on 5 going 1st is the biggest swing: 56% hit vs 45% miss. 4. THE ENGINE Leader: on attack, trash 1 and reveal your top card; a Rocks Pirate draws 2, and these lists are almost all Rocks Pirates. Almost no printed counter (only Buckin): the board defends. Newgate ＋3000 when your leader attacks or is attacked (2.4 times a game), Shiki -3000 on one of their characters (2.3), Linlin about once. Plus up to 8 blockers, 8 free ＋2000 events, and Xebec as a ＋2000 counter in hand (Buckin on board turns that off). 5. COUNTERS AND DAMAGE Going 2nd into Sabo: no early counters 67%, early counters 54%. Into Kaido: 53% vs 33% (partly who was under pressure). Early life is cheap; later the same cards keep Newgate, Shiki and Linlin alive, and they defend for free. Exception, Black Luffy: early counters 42% vs 30% without. 6. THE XEBEC TURN At 10 DON: draw 1, play 2 different Rocks cards, total cost 9 or less. Landed 56%, never landed 47%. Best pulls: Linlin ＋ Gloriosa 62.5%, Newgate ＋ Stussy 58%. Weakest: Gloriosa ＋ Stussy, John ＋ Gloriosa (about 46%). 7. THE JOHN LOCK Rest Captain John on your turn and he's the only card they can attack. Usopp's event trashes a card instead of losing John in battle. Keep 2 DON up and Kyo on board. About 1 game in 10. 8. MATCHUPS (win rate, seat) Shanks 64% (2nd). Enel 60% (go 1st: 70% vs 51%). Luffy & Ace 58% (2nd). Robin 57% (lean 1st). Sabo 56% (2nd, take the hits). Kaido 51% (go 1st: 59% vs 43%). Mirror: 2nd 54% vs 1st 44%. Black Luffy 34% (2nd, defend early). CHECKLIST: Keep Kyo going 2nd. Linlin on 5 going 1st. Take early hits, except into Black Luffy. Xebec pulls Linlin ＋ Gloriosa or Newgate ＋ Stussy. Go 1st into Kaido and Enel.
