Bloody Bush Pillar, Kielder - 11 January 2014

A 12 mile round trip from Lewisburn Car Park just off the main Kielder Water road. The route follows Akenshaw Burn and then onto the border ridge of the North Pennines/Cheviots. At the border of England - Scotland the route meets the 12 ft monument of Bloody Bush Pillar. The pillar has a inscribed panel on the side indicating the cost/toll of crossing the border, extras apply for transporting animals. Luckily for me I had nothing in tow!!! From here the route heads towards the phone mast and then onto the various cairns and the trig point of the Larriston Fells before returning back to Kielder Forest.
